Bubble Tight Dampers

(ASME AG-1 Class 0)

Quality – Integrity – Reliability

PMT designs, qualifies, and manufactures safety related bubble tight dampers. The PMT bubble tight dampers are designed to require minimal maintenance and are manufactured utilizing the best available materials and components. These dampers are not stock ‘off the shelf’ items – we design each damper specifically for your application. Seismic Qualification is performed in accordance with IEEE 344, and for harsh environments dampers (including actuators) are qualified in accordance with IEEE 323. All bubble tight dampers are leakage tested at our factory to ensure compliance with ASME AG-1 Class Zero leakage criterion.

While each bubble tight damper is custom designed for the application, the following design features apply to most dampers supplied by PMT:

  • Blade shafts are sealed via an easily replaceable integral external shaft seal. The blade/shaft attachments are designed utilizing a floating pivot joint that allows optimal blade/gasket seating while prohibiting binding. Our exclusive blade/shaft attachment system will not allow blade sag that causes operational binding/failure as occurs on models manufactured by others.
  • Dampers utilize a one-piece, long life, low compression set, silicone sponge seat gasket which requires no maintenance. Should the gasket become damaged, it can be readily replaced. Our exclusive design prevents blade/gasket compression when the damper blades are open. The gasket will be compressed only when the damper blades are in the closed position. This design eliminates gasket compression setting that will cause the ever-increasing leakage rates on models manufactured by others. Each damper incorporates our “Low Load” blade stop arrangement that reduces the amount of Blade Gasket compression resulting in further minimized gasket compression setting, lowers linkage loads and substantially reduces required actuator torque.
